Recycled Plastic Flower Art

What you will need

  • 20oz Clear plastic soda bottles

  • Sharpies

  • Hot glue gun

  • Stem wire or wooden dowels

  • Scissors

  • Baking sheet

  • Aluminum foil

What to do:

  1. Cut the bottom 3 inches off of your plastic coke bottle and recycle the rest.

  2. Using the sharpies color the plastic in any colors that you desire

  3. Using scissors cut slits about halfway down the bottom of the soda bottle.

  4. Place the soda bottle bottoms randomly around a foil-covered baking sheet

  5. Preheat oven to 300 degrees and place the baking sheet in the oven to melt the plastic. I do recommend having your vent fan on as melting plastic can produce a slight smell.

  6. After the plastic has melted and shriveled up producing your flower petals, remove from the oven, and allow it to cool.

  7. Once cooled, apply hot glue to the back and attach your stem.
